Bratcakes: A Madison Tradition

Bratcakes: A Madison Tradition

Some dream of sugarplums and candy. Three years ago we had a different kind of vision, a vision of the most incredible, perfect union that could not be resisted. Yes, we’re talking about the bratcake.

From 7-9am on Wednesday, June 10th, hungry cyclists can fill their bellies with a found-only-in-Wisconsin bratcake, coffee from Marigold Kitchen, hydration drink from Skratch Labs and some fruit. Find the location here.

The bratcake is a Wisconsin twist on pigs in a blanket that’s served for breakfast. Simply take a brat, wrap it in a pancake, apply syrup and yummo – you’ve got yourself a bratcake. To make this event even more Bike to Work Week worthy, our crew puts on a 100% human powered commuter station on the Capital City Trail between Machinery Row and Monona Terrace. That means we bike everything on our 13 mile round trip excursion. We’re talking event tents, tables, grills, and all the fixin’s to make mouth-watering, traffic-stopping bratcakes.

This year marks the 3rd annual event that reoccurs the Wednesday of Wisconsin’s Bike to Work Week. Our first year we gave out around 200 bratcakes, last year just over 380, and this year we’re going for the World Record for most bratcakes given to cyclists. Help us make that goal a reality and come see us on the bike path.

But wait, we’re not done. We’ll be raffling off one of these sweet brat beverage holders to a random winner. Simply post your photo, tag with #bratcakes and make sure your post is visible to the public.

Can’t get enough bratcakes? Then join us Friday, June 5th at Saris Cycling Group for a group ride with Tim Johnson and the rest of the Ride on Chicago crew. Learn more.
